When Charlotte FC acquired Enzo Copetti from the Argentine Primera División squad Racing Club, many thought that the team had found their primary striker. Instead, his first season with the Crown left more questions than answers, after he played in 27 matches and scored just six goals. The lack of production led to questions […]

Charlotte FC officially returns to the pitch for the first time since last October’s loss in the opening game of the MLS Cup Playoffs to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening when they welcome NYCFC to Bank of America Stadium. The squad will be hoping to build off of a strong preseason trip […]

To say there is excitement about the Dean Smith hire for Charlotte FC might be a bit of understatement. Of course there is the obvious connections to the state with him sharing the same name as one of the greatest college basketball coaches and cultural leaders the state has ever seen along with his son […]

If you are looking for an example of resiliency, what you saw in Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night might be the best in a while in terms of Charlotte sports. Charlotte FC entered this week in the best spot they had been all season in the table. The squad had won five of six in MLS contests despite being one of the more banged up teams in the league and having one of the more grueling schedules in the league in the past month. On Saturday night, the fatigue and injuries seemed to catch up to them, as they put together one of their worst defensive performances of the year in a 4-2 loss to Columbus Crew.

We knew it was going to be a tough ask for Charlotte FC to go from Los Angeles to Philadelphia to face the defending Eastern Conference champs on a short turnaround. Add in the fact that the team was still without forwards Enzo Copetti, Kamil Jozwiak and McKenzie Gaines and it was nearly an impossible task.

Saturday night produced one of the best sports environments in the city of Charlotte, as Charlotte FC began their second season on the MLS pitch in front of 69,435 fans in Bank of America Stadium. While the result wasn't what the majority of those in attendance were hoping for, the near-capacity crowd and rave reviews from those who were there show that Charlotte FC will once again be making big waves with Charlotte sports fans in 2023.
