As a Bears fan, I don’t root for the Panthers every week. I do however root for player performances because I like a lot of the guys on the team, especially Jon Beason. It was awesome to see Julius Peppers and Beason play like beasts and rough up the Arizona Cardinals. It was as great a defensive performance as they have had in 2 years. The “grounded” Cardinals play at my Bears next week and I’m glad the Panthers we’re able to expose Kurt Warner as a “close to watched up” quarterback as you can get in the NFL. If he doesn’t throw up a jump ball to Larry Fitzgerald, then he doesn’t complete a pass. The Bears defense will expose Arizona again next Sunday and the Cardinals will be left heading South for the winter.

was in the shower when Jimmy Rollins smacked a game-winning 2-run double in the gap off of Broxton. He didn’t even see the pitch, the hit nor was he there to support his teammate and console him after he gave up the hit like his other teammates did. What a joke Manny Ramirez is. He is such and individual jackass of a player and I am shocked that Joe Torre had no problem with Manny not being on the bench for the end of the game. Torre was quoted as saying “Manny has so much confidence, When we get a lead late in the game, and I’ve taken him out, whether it be for defense or we have a big lead, when we go up to shake hands after the game, he’s in his street clothes.
“So, it’s really nothing different than he’s done before. I don’t think it’s disrespect or anything. He wasn’t going anywhere until the game was over, and we can’t put him back in the game.”
I’m not saying Torre need’s to call out Manny publicly, but at least say it wasn’t “the best idea for Manny to not be on the bench for the end of the game.” C’MON JOE….YOUR BETTER THAN THAT!! At least I thought you were. Now I’m really rooting for the Phillies to make the World Series again.

In the NFC, there are 6 teams at 3-2. The Bears, Packers, 49ers, Cardinals, Eagles and Cowboys. Which two make the playoffs? Keep in mind, one of the West teams will be in virtue of winning the division.
I say Cardinals will win the West and the Bears and Cowboys will make the playoffs with the 4-1 Falcons being grounded as their schedule is loaded with playoff contenders in the second half.

How sick was Tom Brady yesterday. I know the Titans are a horrific football team on defense, but in miserable conditions he was throwing darts all over the field. One completion after another, one Touchdown after another. It was a site to see and something we will not see again anytime soon.

Rest in Peace Captain Lou Albano. The former WWE icon passed away the other day at the age of 76. What a character from the sport that most always knew was scripted. A great actor and character during WWE’s hayday. He made the loop ear ring look good on a man. The wrestling community will miss you Captain!

They just don’t know what to do with themselves when they try and hang up the shoulder pads. It’s said that the toughest year an athlete goes through is his first year out of the league. We find another example today as Junior Seau has “unretired” and returned to the Patriots who are in need of help at linebacker. He just couldn’t settle for surfing on San Diego beach and living it up in the fun and sun of the left coast! Must be tough. Hang 10 Junior!!

and it is a balmy 50 degrees at game time. Here is hoping that the Rox win and push this series to a game 5 tomorrow in Phily. I am a die-hard baseball fan as you all know, and with the exception of Friday night’s Yankees thrilling win in extra’s, this post-season has been a yawner. As much as you all rip MLB for the playoffs being to long, I’m ready for Selig and the boys to extend the divisional series to best-of-7 instead of best-of-5. That way you’d at least see better baseball and less of this “play 162 and get swept out of the postseason in 4 days.”

Congrats on the win and getting to 1 and 3! I guess Beas’ “Pepp” talk worked. Say what you want, right or wrong on Jon commenting on our show about the intensity the team needs to show, not just Julius Peppers. It worked. Knobody on the Panthers…I mean knowbody has a bigger voice than Jon Beason. He is a class guy and a true leader. How you can rip the guy is beyond me. How you can say it was “a risk for a captain on an 0-3 football team to call his guys out over the air” is ridiculous and just utterly wrong. THE PANTHERS RESPONDED AND PLAYED WITH THE MOST INTESITY I HAD SEEN ALL YEAR LONG. INCLUDING MOST OF LAST YEAR WHEN THEY WERE WINNING. If you disagree, I will flat out call you a lier and you didn’t watch the game!!
