The Head Coach of the Charlotte Hornets Steve Clifford joined Kyle Bailey for his weekly appearance on The Clubhouse as he discussed where he sees the team at right now, and he gives an update on LaMelo Ball’s status.
Kyle first asked Coach where he sees this team after a 3-4 start to the season Steve told Kyle outside of the second-half performance against the Kings on Monday he has viewed the performance to be pretty positive, especially without 3 key rotation players in the lineup.
Steve then gave an update on the 3 Hornets (LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier & Cody Martin) still on the injury report as he told Kyle:
“They’re able to do more as all 3 of them participated in shoot around this morning as they are able to do all of the non-contact drills which they weren’t able to do last week. They want to get back, but we have to smart to when we bring them back and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
When LaMelo Ball does return Coach Clifford said it definitely a possibility that he could be paired at times during games with Dennis Smith Jr as he plans for Dennis to stay in the rotation once all of the guys return.
PJ Washington has had 2 strong performances in a row as Steve credited a lot of the progress to the work he has been putting in with assistant HC Jay Hernandez and it is coinciding with the fact that PJ is becoming more confident as well.
