I love the fact that Steve Smith called out Dwayne Jarrett once again. The guy needs to get his act together. He was a big time player at USC and he just can’t stop partying. Obviously USC is a party school; we all know that, and the Charlotte night life is hopping! There is a ton to do in the Queen City. But there is a time for fun and a time to get serious. Dwayne Jarrett has the talent to be a pro-bowl receiver as he showed at USC. Hopefully this whole situation has opened his eyes and he can become that top receiver the Panthers need.
I still believe the Panthers need to take Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall with their first round pick. I saw him play live when I was living in Illinois! He is a smash mouth running back that is not afraid to get the tough yards. He was an SEC runner playing in the Big Ten. He would make for a great compliment to De Angelo Williams.
My Cubs are smoking hot right now, off to their best start since 1985 when there whole pitching staff got injured and the team plummeted to last place. I don’t see that happening this year. There pitching staff is deep enough to withstand injuries. They are also very confident. They can win a small-ball game and can easily win a long-ball game. They pitch, play good defense and lead the majors in on base percentage. But the most important thing is they play with swagger and urgency. Something they haven’t done in recent years. They have the mentality of World Series or bust. I haven’t seen that from a Cub team since I have been alive. Every Cub team plays not to lose instead of playing to win. So far, this one plays to win.
It will be a great summer to be a Cubs fan! You are all welcome to join the bandwagon. There is a ton of room. Marty Brennaman was dead wrong about Cubs fans. We are not obnoxious. We are passionate and dying for a winner. Leave us alone Marty and stick to broadcasting your crappy Reds.
